"Can't read my, can't read my, he can't read my poker face." Lady GaGa lit up the stage as she starred in the opening performance at the 2010 Grammy Awards, which took place January 31. After opening with her number one hit "Poker Face," GaGa was joined by musical genius Elton John to perform a mashup of her song "Speechless" with John's well-known "Your Song." This performance, as well as Lady GaGa's outfit, sent chills up and down the spines of the audience and viewers. Lady GaGa and Elton John were not the only two performers to stun the audience with their musical talents. Beyonce didn't cease to please her fans during her incredible performance. With her standard powerful stage presence, Beyonce performed her popular hit "If I Were a Boy" and ended her stage time with her rendition of "You Oughta Know" by Alanis Morissette. In addition to giving a stellar performance, Beyonce racked up the nominations and awards. A few of these awards included "Song of the Year," "Best Female Pop Vocal Performance," and "Best Female R&B Performance." Although Beyonce has made her way to the top of the ladder and has entertained us all with her unbelievable talent, it was Taylor Swift who took home the big win. Taylor Swift's "Album of the Year" nomination and win for "Fearless" was, as she said, "My dream come true." At 20 years old, Taylor Swift has certainly accomplished dreams that many people don't in a lifetime. Luckily for Taylor, Kanye West did not attend the Grammys and she was able to accept her award with full astonishment and respect. Although Taylor's performance with Stevie Nicks and Butch Walker was not as mind-blowing as Pink dangling from the ceiling, her talent and ability have still rewarded her with the deserved "Album of the Year" award. Swift also received several Grammy Awards in the country category, most notably "Best Country Album." During this two-and-a-half-hour extravaganza, an unforgettable tribute was made to unforgettable musician Michael Jackson. Celine Dion, Usher, Carrie Underwood, Jennifer Hudson and Smokey Robinson all contributed to a performance of "Earth Song." Although these five major talents could not bring Michael Jackson completely back to life, they did their best to keep his spirit alive through music. His contributions to the music world were endless, and the Grammys made it a point to recognize that. After the heartwarming performance, which was highlighted by a 3D video, Michael Jackson's children, Prince and Paris, said a few words in memory of their beloved father. Prince left the audience with these words: "Through all his songs his message was simple. Love. We will continue to spread his message and help the world." Other performers at the Grammy Awards ncluded The Black Eyed Peas, Lady Antebellum, Zac Brown Band, Green Day, Dave Matthews Band and Maxwell. The last performance to take place was the rap trio Drake, Lil Wayne and Eminem, assisted by drummer Travis Barker. After starting off with Lil Wayne's personal record, they finished off with their well-known hit "Forever.î Due to television regulatio"s and rules, CBS bleeped out about half of the song because of profanity. All in all, the performance was still entertaining. The musical aspect of the Grammys would not be as exciting without the fashion side of the ceremony. Lady GaGa stunned the world again with her interesting wardrobe choices. Her entire collection was designed by Armani. For GaGa's red carpet look, Armani designed a sparkly, igloo-shaped dress, completed with a glittery body suit and luminous high heels. Moving on to her performance, her green spaceship-like outfit had more glitter than the first look. Her final look of the night went along with the celestial theme, as a silver sparkled lightning bolt seemed to be striking her head. Regarding her wardrobe, Lady GaGa said, ìThe series of pieces Mr. Armani "reated for me are truly iconic; they represent not only beautiful fashion, but my spirit and essence as an artist." Rihanna, Carrie Underwood and Fergie wore other breathtaking fashions of the night. Rihanna sported a white flowing gown designed by Elie Saab Haute Couture accentuated by Jimmy Choo sandals. Georges Chakra designed Carrie Underwood's sheer white dress with silver leather straps. Lastly, Fergie lit up the red carpet by wearing a mini dress designed by Emilio Pucci. The 2010 Grammy Awards was full of music, stars, fashion, talent and excitement. The night left many artists nearly speechless. However, the halo belongs with Beyonce, Taylor Swift and Lady GaGa for being spotlights of the ceremony
