Holocaust escapee tells story with ‘tenacity and perseverance’

  Holocaust survivor Leo Bretholz came to speak to Loyola students on Tuesday, April 17, in the AWSC 4th Floor Programming Room. Bretholz was a passenger on train No. 42 from Drancy, France traveling to Auschwitz during World War II, although Bretholz never made it there. Full story

    With the school year coming to a close, Loyola prepares itself for one of the biggest weekends of the year—Loyolapalooza. This year, however, a new college tradition is coming to the Evergreen campus. Loyola University will host its first ever homecoming this weekend, when the top ranked Greyhounds face archrival Johns Hopkins. Full story

Loyolapalooza creates a community: Perfect ending to Homecoming Weekend

  Loyolapalooza: an event that happens every year on the last Sunday before finals. People in all grades look forward to it and anyone who is not a freshman retells stories of the years past as the date approaches. You were bombarded by emails from SGA about the event and at one point this week definitely either walked past the table where they were selling shirts or noticed the sign advertising the event.       As my college career draws to a close, I can’t help but reflect upon all of the choices that have led me to this point. From my decision to attend Loyola, to choosing my double major in English and Spanish, to deciding on a semester abroad in Spain, my choices shaped my experience and, ultimately, shaped the person I have become.

  • Hopkins snaps Hounds’ hope for perfect season in overtime thriller

      The last time the Loyola Greyhounds beat the Johns Hopkins Blue Jays in lacrosse was in 1999, which, coincidentally was also the last time the Hounds were number one in the polls. However, though once again going into the match-up as the top-rated team in the nation, The Battle of North Charles Street would not result in a Hounds’ victory this year.

Attention called to Evergreen fundraising efforts

       Equipped with four tubs of free Rita’s Italian Ice and a board covered with the names of thankful Loyola students, the Student Philanthropy Council celebrated ForeverGreen Day by creating awareness about the philanthropic efforts of alumni at our university. Full story

  I’m sure we’ve all seen James Cameron’s famous movie Titanic, in which the young, beautiful Rose, played by Kate Winslet, falls for the baby-faced, unkempt, poor boy Jack. It’s the movie that—for us girls, anyway—sparked our love for Leonardo DiCaprio. Full story

Lady Hounds crush Villanova, earn BIG EAST tournament bid

  In their final two home games, Loyola women’s lacrosse defeated both Rutgers and Villanova to retain their unbeaten status in the BIG EAST. With the victories, they improve to 6-0 in the conference and 10-4 overall. On Friday night, the Hounds took on the Rutgers Scarlet Knights under the lights at Ridley. Full story
