The start of the 2009 academic year brings a number of changes to Loyola's campus, the most obvious being Loyola's officially ushering in its university status. Though, they are making us wait a few weekends for the fireworks display and free dessert.

Credit the Obama Administration for the changes occurring in our two political parties today. The days of Clinton's middle-of-the-road presidency and Bush's "compassionate conservatism" seem to be behind us. Students, faculty, alumni and unaffiliated college newspaper aficionados, it is my distinct pleasure to welcome you all to Loyola University Maryland.
