Thats what she said: Hunt down the cab, hop in, and then get going

This week's question is something that affects all of us, whether we like it or not, "What is the best way to get a cab and how much is fair to pay?"
In a perfect world, there would be a cab right outside your apartment whenever you needed it. But then again, in a perfect world, you wouldn't need a cab because you already would have a scantily clad Fabio as your personal chauffeur.
The sad reality of the situation, however, is that it can often be really difficult, if not downright frustrating, not only to hail one of these bad boys but to actually get it to take you where you want to go.
Especially in a pair of four-inch BCBG heels.
If you can get one on the street that's your best bet. You'll save time and avoid needless anxiety. Curbside pick-up is always the most convenient option, and I'm not just talking about Machos Nachos from the Paper Moon Dinner.
Calling for a cab? You will probably have to listen to about ten minutes of ringing before you actually speak with a human being. And even when someone picks up, it's still debatable.
Put all the taxi numbers next to each other in your phonebook so you can quickly go down the list and dial them without having to figure out which Jim is your supervisor from last summer's internship at Legg Mason and which one pick you up at 4 a.m. It might be both, but just in case.
To get you started, I will throw a few numbers out for your convenience. Now, this list is in no way exhaustive -- it would be ridiculous to include every cab company in Baltimore -- but I have included the top five I use most often and have found decently reliable over the years (and of course, in this context, "decently reliable" is a relative term).
Arrow Cab and County Cab: (410) 261-0000. These two cab services are owned by the same company. They service Baltimore City as well as Baltimore County.Baltimore Taxi: (410) 732-1600. This company services the Baltimore Area, including anywhere in Baltimore City.
