The up-beat Massachusetts native, acoustic singer-songwriter, Matt Nathanson will take the stage with previously confirmed State Radio for the Evergreen Campus' Loyolapalooza festival on April 27.

Confirmation for Nathanson came last week by Student Government Association vice president of Social Affairs Mike O'Keeffe, "We have looked at his live shows and have seen that he has great stage presence."

Nathanson will be performing with a full band first with State Radio following with the same length set. The acoustic guitarist usually performs with a band, but at times plays solo to soften the mood of the show, but no matter the venue his crowd interaction, versatility, and humor gives his performance an extra kick.

"He really is half comedy and half music, and I think that is a perfect fit for Loyolapalooza," said O'Keeffe.

Nathanson sprung into fame by covering the band James' song "Laid" and having it featured on the American Wedding soundtrack. His recent album, "Some Mad Hope" came out this past August with a handful of songs used in popular television shows such as "Scrubs", "One Tree Hill", and performing on Late Night with Conan O'Brien.

"I'm super excited that [Nathanson] is coming because I got to see him at The Recher Theatre in January," said sophomore Meggie Girardi. "I think Loyola is really going to like him. He puts on a great show and it's a perfect addition to Loyolapalooza."

Loyolapalooza will not be the first time State Radio and Nathanson both have shared the same stage as this past December both walked out of Boston's Orpheum Theatre with a Boston Music Award. Nathanson grabbed National Male Vocalist of the Year while State Radio took home Outstanding Live Act of the Year. With both bands recognized for their incredible talents and musical prowess, Loyolapalooza looks to have a much modern and youthful feel this year.

Both bands for Loyolapalooza will be the headlining acts and the SGA will be looking for an opening act to accompany the winner of this Thursday's Battle of the Bands. If SGA does not confirm an opening act they will take both the runner-up and winner of the Battle of the Bands.
